How to install the Co. Society Desktop Application (Windows)

An overview of the program installation process for Windows and troubleshooting common dependency issues.

Before installing the Co. Society application, consult your IT administrator to confirm the appropriate installation procedure. Organizations might deploy the Co. Society app remotely or offer it through internal channels, such as the Microsoft Entra App Gallery.

It's crucial to verify beforehand, as installing Co. Society may necessitate firewall, antivirus, and / or EDR (Endpoint Detection & Response) configuration changes by your IT administrator. Additionally, ensure you have the required permissions to install software on your device.

System Requirements

To access your organizations virtual office on Windows, you need to be running Windows 10 and 11 Home and Pro (64-bit). If you are unsure which version of windows you are running, please follow the Microsoft Support Article here.

Automatic Detection & Installation of Dependencies

The Co. Society Windows desktop application requires the following standard dependencies to run:

  • DirectX Runtime
  • Visual C++ 2015 - 2022 Redistributable (x64)

The installer will look for these dependences on the target system. IF the dependencies are not present, the Co. Society installer will trigger the installation of these dependencies before installing the Co. Society desktop application.

Visual C++ 2015 - 2022 Redistributable (x64)

The Visual C++ Redistributable installs Microsoft C and C++ (MSVC) runtime libraries. These libraries are required by many applications built by using Microsoft C and C++ tools. See Microsoft Learn for more information.

When the Visual C++ 2015 - 2022 Redistributable (x64) dependency installation is trigged, please select Yes to install. DO NOT cancel the installation before it has completed.

install1-2

Please note! Co. Society requires  Visual C++ 2015 - 2022 Redistributable (x64) version 14.38.33135 or higher. Earlier versions may result in a C++ error when launching the Co. Society application.

DirectX Runtime

Microsoft DirectX is a collection of standard application programming interfaces (APIs) required for handling tasks related to multimedia, especially games and 3D applications on Microsoft platforms.

Similarly, where the DirectX runtime dependency installation is triggered, select Yes to allow the installation to proceed. DO NOT cancel the installation.

After the installation has completed and you've restarted your system (if required) you can launch the Co. Society Desktop Application via the Desktop icon or Start Menu shortcut as described in more detail here

On first launch this will trigger the patching process. This process can take some time depending on your network connectivity. The Co. Society Application needs to download the latest resources to ensure the best possible user experience.

Subsequent launches typically won't require any additional patches. However, from time to time there will be updates that the Co. Society application requires that will be patched automatically. These patches will generally be much smaller except in the case of a major update.

When Patching is complete, you can click Launch to launch the Co. Society Application, Log-in using your preferred authentication method and enter the Virtual Office!
